The first thing you need to do is select the 'Register' link on the menu (circled in red).

From there you will be taken to the registration page where you will be asked to fill in your username (this can be whatever you like), email address (make sure it's valid because this is where your account information will be sent) and password. *Note - you will not receive any emails from iHunt.com or any other addresses period. If you choose to sign up for the newsletter then you will receive that whenever a new letter is created.

After selecting 'Create Account' a page confirming that an email was sent to your address will appear with instructions to verify the account.

You're almost done! The next step is to open your email account, find the email just sent by admin@ihunt.com and open it up. It will look like this.

Select the link in the email and you will be taken back to the iHunt site and see the following message. You're now ready to login and use your account.

Hunting with Eagles

Golden Eagle, photo by Martin Mecnarowski

Have you ever seen an eagle take down a deer? Neither had I until I saw this video. I know people have been hunting with birds of prey for hundreds of years, but it is truly amazing to watch these eagles take down animals much larger. I doubt any of you are going to run out and trade your guns for eagles - but it might be worth finding the closest falconry club close to you to see it in person.

How to Claim Your Listing

How to Claim Your Listing

Why should you claim your business? Because it's your business and it's FREE advertising! iHunt's database has thousands of businesses listed across the country and there's a very good chance your business is already listed as well. The easiest way to check this is by doing a general search in your area. To demonstrate this we created a fake listing called "Fake Listing" -  creative isn't it?

First step, go to the directory portion of the website.

Our Fake Listing business is located in Vallejo, CA and is a bow shop so we conducted a search seen in the below snapshot. Notice that the listing type is selected. We chose not to type our listing name because it's possible that the business is listed with a slightly different name. By searching by geography we'll be sure to locate our listing.

This was the results.

After finding our business name we selected the link and were taken to this page.

Once we confirmed that this is our business we selected the 'Claim it!' link and were taken here:

You can not claim a listing unless you are a registered user. It is free of charge and allows you to customize your text and contact information as well as post your website. We'll explain how to create an account in another post, for now we'll assume you make it through that process unscathed and once you are logged in, since you're claiming a business, you'd be taken to this snapshot.

Once we filled out the details we selected submit. After a claim is submitted it is verified by iHunt staff. Once the listing is verified an email will be sent to the the email address listed in the account that claimed the business.

When you receive this email, you're all set and can now access your business via your account. Congratulations!

iHunt Construction

If things look a little messy, it's because we're still under construction. We are currently a working site and have the most complete hunting directory on the internet, but we're going to be much more than just a directory. Please keep checking back in the next couple of weeks as things are tightened up and features added. To give you an idea of what will be available when everything is up and running hunters will be able to:

  • Search for hunting businesses in all fifty states based off of name, geographic location or type.
    • Some businesses may not be in the directory yet, feel free to add them
    • If you see your business, claim it! You'll be able to customize the text that is seen by all iHunt visitors
  • Search for animals in all fifty states. All animals will have:
    • A brief summary describing appearance, behavior, habitat, taste, etc.
    • Regulations for all fifty states presented in a standardized format on a calendar that can easily be scrolled through. Now it's easier to hunt year round in states around the country!
  • Search for products to purchase, over 10,000 in fact. This is just another way we're trying to provide you the hunter everything you need in one spot on the internet
  • Browse articles written about
    • The different states
    • Recipes
    • Videos recommended by the iHunt staff
    • Hunting tips and harvest stats
    • Hunt of the week - ongoing series detailing animals in season and the best locations and methods to hunt them
    • Hunter of the Month - This could be you. If you've got an amazing hunting story and pictures or video that doesn't look like the Blair Witch Project to back it up, send it in

These are only some of the main things we're going to be doing at iHunt, there's a lot more in the details that you'll have to discover on your own.

And, if there's something you can't find on the internet that is hunting related, let us know what it is. We can't guarantee we can add a feature that will solve your problem, but we'll give it a try.
